infront of those houses there’s a long sidewalk
infron of them also is the second picture
and infront of that is the beach
and the coast just goes on forever
everyone rents/rides bikes just like mine
the bikes and the possiblility of riding forever appealed to me most, obviously

and I need a lover with soul power
and you ain’t got no soul power!

Bob Dylan - The Times They Are A Changin’

Obama’s speech, great. Gore, really impressive. Some other stuff was ok. But the music…sweet Jeebus, who had control of that iPod or those “live act” bookings? You’re the goddamned Democrats, you shouldn’t be getting smoked on the musical front by the Republicans. Where was Springsteen? Dylan? A million other self-proclaimed liberal musicians?

No, instead viewers are treated Sheryl Crow, Stevie Wonder, and Mike MacDonald, with the newest stuff being U2’s Beautiful Day and the finale of the night (during a climactic moment when Obama is being rained down upon with cheers) being Brooks and Dunn? Who was responsible for this sonic abortion?

Here’s a little help, a couple hours too late. Though I think the boldest move would have been to stick to straight jazz, maybe a little In a Silent Way or A Tribute to Jack Johnson fusion era Miles. Really class it up while maintaining an edgy cool.

 I AGREE
but my main reason for posting this is because all day I’ve been listening to bob
and I couldn’t find someone who posted Positively 4th Street, but this was my second choice.

Goodnight Tumblr.

 DEAR DANIEL,
I thought of this guy you put on my phone:

“it’s like we go through life with our antennas bouncing off one another, continously on ant autopilot, with nothing really human required of us. Stop. Go. Walk here. Drive there. All action basically for survival. All communication simply to keep this ant colony buzzing along in an efficient, polite manner. “Here’s your change.” “Paper or plastic?’ “Credit or debit?” “You want ketchup with that?” I don’t want a straw. I want real human moments. I want to see you. I want you to see me. I don’t want to give that up. I don’t want to be ant, you know?” — waking life

Sweet Darlin’ - She & Him

Apr 9, 2009
“Things have been tough lately for dreamers. They say dreaming is dead, no one does it anymore. It’s not dead it’s just that it’s been forgotten, removed from our language. Nobody teaches it so nobody knows it exists. The dreamer is banished to obscurity. Well, I’m trying to change all that, and I hope you are too. By dreaming, every day. Dreaming with our hands and dreaming with our minds. Our planet is facing the greatest problems it’s ever faced, ever. So whatever you do, don’t be bored, this is absolutely the most exciting time we could have possibly hoped to be alive. And things are just starting” —waking life
